Ash Wednesday Thoughts

IMG_1451Mardi Gras got the best of us! It was 36 degrees outside (too cold for southerners like us) and our hands got more numb with every bead we caught but IT WAS SO WORTH IT! We had a great time with friends and family. It surely was a FAT Tuesday! We ate so much so that we could be prepared for the fasting ahead on Ash Wednesday.

Which brings me to my next topic: my faith Bernadette and I are both devout Catholics. Sounds pretty incredible for two incredibly homosexual women huh? In reality though, I grew closer to my faith once I accepted my sexuality. It drew me closer to my God and it helped me truly understand why I am the way I am. God doesn’t make mistakes people! He put us all on this earth for a reason and HE loves every one of us! Whether you are gay, straight, black, white, Asian purple or red, we are all his children and He wants a relationship with us!

Now that I got that out of my system let me also say this: I am in no way shoving my faith down people’s throats. I am simply debunking the myth that gay people hate religion and resent God which is not at all true! There are many people that just like me have a strong relationship with their Lord and Savior and are gay.

With that being said, Happy Lent! Let the fasting begin!
